Arrests

There were 20 arrests made in Wealden last week.

Assault remains our most prevalent offence, with 8 individuals arrested across Hailsham, Crowborough, Pevensey, Uckfield, Polegate and Heathfield.

6 drivers were arrested. 4 of those were for drink driving in Hailsham, Heathfield, Polegate and Uckfield. 2 were for drug driving in Polegate and East Dean.

We arrested an individual for criminal damage in Hailsham.

Other offence included stalking, breaking bail conditions and threats to kill.

After numerous reports from residents about e-bikes and e-scooters being ridden in the Hellingly and Hailsham area, officers conducted targeted patrols.

PC Buckle identified the bike pictured((20+) Facebook), after spotting riders in the Hawkswood Road and Trefoil Road areas. The bike was later stopped on Park Gate and seized.

These bikes can present a serious danger to the public and are often linked to anti-social riding in residential areas.

We will continue to act on community concerns and take robust action where offences are identified.

This simple #FloatToLive technique has helped save lives in a range of incidents, from people slipping into canals to those caught in waves at the coast.

🔹 Tilt your head back so your ears are under the water.
🔹 Relax and control your breathing.
🔹 Gently move your hands and legs to stay afloat.
🔹 Don’t worry if your legs sink - everyone floats differently.

Important: Avoid entering water after drinking alcohol or taking drugs. Alcohol significantly increases the risk of accidents, cold water shock, and drowning.

Knowing how to float is a vital, life-saving skill. Staying calm and using this method can make a critical difference in an emergency.
